Police ask for information following his murder on 30th September

Detectives investigating the murder of a 45 year old man in Wandsworth over the weekend are appealing for anyone who knows him and might have information about any business dealings or disputes he was involved with recently.

Stuart McMahon, who lived alone in Magdalen Road, SW18, was discovered by police officers around 5.00 pm on Saturday 30 September in a downstairs room of the house. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem at St George's Hospital, Tooting on Monday 2 October showed the cause of death to be gun shot wounds.

Mr McMahon, aged 45, was a self employed builder and had recently sold the house. The new owners were due to move in this week.

Police believe he was shot some time between 04.00 and 08.30 on Saturday 30 September. They are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Magdalen Road to contact them if they saw or heard anything suspicious during that time or in the hours just before and after.

The murder is being investigated by the MPS Specialist Crime Directorate. DCI Steve Richardson said: "We have spoken to a number of people close to Mr McMahon but are still keen to speak to any associates or clients who may have had recent dealings with him in order to establish a motive for the murder.

"We have ruled out burglary. We believe someone came here in order to kill him."
Officers who discovered the body had been called to the premises by a neighbour who noticed that a glass pane in the front door was shattered.
Police have now confirmed that shots had been fired at the door.

Mr McMahon is described as a family man who, although estranged from his wife, was still close to her and their two teenage daughters.

DCI Richardson said: "We are not aware of any recent threats to his life but if anyone has any information about any persons bearing a grudge against Mr McMahon for any reason, we would be most anxious to hear from them."

There have been no arrests. A weapon has not been recovered.
