Two teenagers have been bailed to return, pending further investigation
We are investigating an incident in Wandsworth on Monday 26 March. Two officers were patrolling the Doddington Estate and were in Ravenet Street when a man approached them and said a robbery was taking place nearby.
Around the corner they saw a woman crouching down with her handbag open on ground. Two youths were standing over her, one holding a hand gun. They ran off when they saw officers approaching.
Having made sure the woman was OK, the officers pursued and later detained the two youths aged 14 & 17. They were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and taken to local police stations for questioning.
They did not have a firearm with them and officers called in the MPS Air Support Unit to assist with a search of the streets. The helicopter's camera revealed a firearm on a flat roof near the scene of the incident. It was recovered and is being forensically examined.
