police appeal for witnesses.....
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the robbery of a BMW from Shell petrol station on Queenstown Road, Battersea on Friday, 4 May 2007 at 2020 hours.
A 20-year-old man drove up to the petrol station with a 19-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the black X3 BMW sports utility vehicle. He filled his car up with diesel and entered the shop to pay.The woman stayed in the unlocked car listening to music. She saw a man out of the corner of her eye and he jumped in the car. The keys had been left in the ignition and he started the car.He grabbed her by the neck and told her to stay calm and not to worry. She managed to undo her seatbelt and get out of the car.
The suspect drove off which led to the owner running out of the shop to see his car being driven towards Battersea Dogs Home.By stealing the car he managed to get away with cash, credit cards and a mobile phone.
Suspect is described as a white man with pale skin, aged between 25 - 30, with straight blonde hair and clean-shaven. He is of proportionate build and was quite well dressed. Detective Sergeant Andy Gallagher said: “Thankfully the woman was not badly hurt but we need any information to help us trace the man or the car. It is a classy sports car which would attract your attention, so please come forward with any information.”No one has been arrested and inquiries continue.
