Wandsworth Common Drugs Bust

Wandsworth Common SNT execute drugs warrants

Over recent weeks, Wandsworth Common Safer Neighbourhood Team was alerted to problems at an address in Westover Road, SW18. Possible criminal activity in and around the property was reported. The address and activity was researched resulting in a successful application for two warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

On 20th August 2010, Ward officers together with their SNT colleagues simultaneously carried out both warrants.

A female found residing at one of the properties was found to be in possession of Class A drugs and was subsequently arrested. Drug paraphernalia was also found along with evidence of cultivation of cannabis. The occupiers and both addresses will be monitored by Wandsworth Housing and the team over the coming weeks.

Sergeant Jerry Ostrowski of Wandsworth Common Safer Neighbourhoods team said:
"These warrants could only be carried out by the cooperation we received from our sister Safer Neighbourhood teams. By occasionally pulling our resources together and continuing to work with partners such as Wandsworth Council, small teams such as our own can manage to conduct larger operations. This cooperation enables Safer Neighbourhoods Teams to tackle problems, big or small, across their wards."
