London Fire Brigade Rescue Ten People From Andrew Reed House


Forty firefighters tackled the fire in the tower block


Ten people have been rescued from a fire in a tower block in Wandsworth this morning. A member of the public rescued a man from the burning flat on the ninth floor of Andrew Reed House in Linstead Way before the emergency services arrived.

Fire crews rescued five people using the stairs and four people from the tenth floor via a turntable ladder within minutes of arriving. A further 150 people left the 15 storey block.

Eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the blaze. The Brigade was called at 0036 and the fire was under control by 0236.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
