Detectives in Wandsworth are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was brutally attacked and stabbed by three males wearing balaclavas.

Investigating officer DC Alex Ware said, "The victim was ambushed in an unprovoked attack and was extremely lucky not to have lost his life from the injuries he received. It is only due to the fact he is a healthy young man and the quick thinking of a friend rushing him to hospital that saved his life. Fortunately, he is making a good recovery. This happened in broad daylight in a busy area and yet no witnesses have come forward. I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen some of this incident to call me in confidence."

Just after 3pm on Wednesday, 25 May the 23-year-old man was suddenly assaulted and stabbed in Culvert Road at the junction with Sheepcote Lane.

He suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body and was rushed to hospital by a friend who spotted him lying injured after the attack. The victim suffered a punctured lung as a result of the stabbings.

The three suspects are described as black males wearing head coverings similar to motorcycle balaclavas.

Call DC Ware of Wandsworth CID on 02032762589 or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800555111 quoting 0311334/16.
