Murder Predicted In Southfields

Cygnet Players present classic Miss Marple whodunnit 'A Murder Is Announced'

“A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October the thirteenth, at little Paddocks – at six-thirty p.m.”

The residents of Chipping Cleghorn are astonished to read an advert in the local newspaper that a murder will take place this coming Friday at Little Paddocks, the home of Letitia Blacklock.

Unable to resist, the group gather at the house at the appointed time when the lights go out and a gun is fired. Enter Miss Marple, who must unravel a complex series of relationships and events to solve the mystery of the killer…

Cygnet Players present Agatha Christie’s classic Miss Marple whodunnit, A Murder Is Announced, this Spring. The production runs from Wednesday, 9 May to Saturday, 12 May 2018 at St Barnabas Church, Lavenham Road, Southfields, SW18 5EP. Performances are nightly at 7.45pm with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.

“We all love a good Agatha Christie, either in book form or on the telly, yet Agatha's work is also staged every day all round the world. So, how to present her work to an audience just a few feet away?” says director and Cygnet Players Honorary Life President, Jeff Raggett. “Life in the villages of Miss Marple is very much about cream teas and everyday village goings-on. These actions seem normal enough - but the elderly sleuth sees beyond the façade. As director, I have presented the suspects living a normal life and being shocked by the murder announcement, while giving Miss Marple a watching brief so she can start to unravel this mystery.”

Tickets are £16 (£14 concessions) and can be bought from the Cygnet Players box office on 07941 448689, via cygnetplayers.com/box-office or by emailing cygnetsboxoffice@gmail.com.

For group bookings (10 or more tickets) Cygnet Players may be able to offer a discount – please email info@cygnetplayers.com or call the box office for further information.
