with charity challenge event on June 29th 2008
The oldest established Muslim community in the UK the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association (“AMA UK”) of the United Kingdom will hold its annual “Charity Challenge” event on the Sunday 29 th June 2008. This prestigious event has grown over the years from humble beginnings to an event that this year has set itself the target of raising £500,000. The event this year is being held in the boroughs of Merton & Wandsworth, London. Over 5,000 walkers and runners are expected to participate in the 12 mile event in aid of the following national and local charities:
The 12 mile route will begin at the Bait-ul-Futuh Mosque Complex in Morden. This magnificent London landmark is Europe’s largest covered mosque and will serve as an inspiring backdrop for the charity event. Participants in the event will walk through the leafy borough of Merton, which will include a section of the walk that runs along the banks of the River Wandle.
The AMA has through its charitable activities embraced both Muslim and non Muslim and placed its focus purely on the selfless service of humanity. The AMA has always emphasised its belief in its creed of “Love for All, Hatred For None” and as result has established is reputation a leading exponent of Muslim integration and support for all aspects of social cohesion, whilst firmly rejecting all notions of extremism or fanaticism as anathema to Islamic belief.
