Farmers' Market comes back to Wandsworth Town Centre 1st Saturday of Every Month
Wandsworth Town Centre will come to life again with the return of the Farmers' Market, back by popular demand, on Saturday 7 September from 9am - 2pm. The Market will be held in the Spread Eagle pub car park at the corner of Wandsworth High Street and Garratt Lane selling many mouth-watering fresh food direct from the farmer. The choice ranges from organic meats, bacon from rare breed pigs, unusual tantalizing cheeses. Freshly baked organic bread home baked pies and succulent fruit and vegetables. A free prize draw will be announced at twelve o'clock for two busting hampers filled with a great selection of fresh farmers produce.
The return of the market is in response to the local residents and traders request for shoppers to support their local town centre and build a sense of community pride. The market will attract regular customers and increases trade at the local shops. Community spirit is reinforced when local residents use the market to shop and meet friends.
The Market receives support from Wandsworth Challenge Partnership, Wandsworth Council and Young's Brewery to contribute to urban regeneration and revitalization of town centres.
The market is to be managed by Tony Martin who has years of experience running Farmers' Markets in south England.
The
market has easy access for cars, with parking at the
New Town Hall, Wandsworth Shopping Centre Neville Gill
Close off Buckhold Road and Sainsbury's Shoppers car
park (which is free for 2 hours).
The Town Centre Manager Ian Taitte said, "This is
a fantastic boost for the town centre. People need to
be aware that once they have done their shopping within
the town centre there are other interesting things to
do. For instance visit Wandsworth Museum, walk the town
centre Heritage Trail capturing the riverside area, visit
Young's Brewery or play tennis in King George's Park.
