A South Thames College student, Mandeep Arora, was presented with a Silver Award at the UK Skills Competition Awards in London last week. The event is supported by City & Guilds, and was organised to recognise students nationwide who have excelled in vocational skills competitions ranging from Hairdressing to Photography.
Mandeep Arora won the Silver Award for Web Page Design, and was delighted to be presented with it by Colin Jackson, the legendary Olympic athlete and now ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ frontrunner. The awards ceremony took place on 12 December in London.
Colin Jackson said: “Everyone here today has displayed a high level of commitment to their skill area and the motivation, dedication and energy needed to achieve their goal. From my experience, I have found that taking part in competitions is extremely satisfying and that the hard work invested is rewarded by a boost to morale and self esteem. Competitions are also an excellent way to hone your skills by competing against your peers.”
