The Wandsworth Friends has organised two day event
Over £320,000 has been raised for palliative care by the event
The Royal Trinity Hospice Christmas Fair is back for a twelfth year thanks to the committee and volunteers at The Wandsworth Friends.
The event has been hugely successful over the years raising over £320,000 to date in support of palliative care.
It’s been a long-standing partnership and a very successful one, with hundreds of people attending each year and an army of volunteers helping to run it.
Trinity supporters can now book tickets to attend the two-day event taking place on the 15 and 16 November at St Luke’s Church Ramsden Road, (SW12 8RQ). There will be 40 stall holders, a silent auction and an exclusive prize draw. Shoppers will find stalls ranging from jewellery, stocking fillers, candles, clothes for men and women, decorations and the ‘nearly new stall’ where you can find something to suit all budgets.
Taking place over two days people can book tickets for the preview evening Tuesday 15 November (£25 for 2 or £15 each) and the daytime event Wednesday 16 November, tickets £5 on the door.
The Wandsworth Friends along with their volunteers have been hosting Christmas fairs for over 30 years however this will be the twelfth in partnership with Royal Trinity Hospice which is based in Clapham Common.
Affectionately referred to as the ‘Angels’, the volunteers take on a variety of roles to support the event. One volunteer is so committed, she is hoping to fly in especially from the USA to help.
Money is raised through ticket sales, the prize draw, sponsorship and individual donations. Stall holders paying for their “table” and giving 10% of their takings add to the amount raised.
Chair Lucinda Harding-Rolls said, “This year there is a great variety of stalls. Anyone coming can be assured they will find something for everyone: men, pets, your granny even! There are some novelty items too. One stallholder is selling cards which you can then plant after Christmas as they have seeds engrained within them. The fair wouldn’t be possible without my brilliant committee and the volunteers, all the little things they do from helping with get prizes for the silent auction, organising the mystery gifts for our Tree of Life and the ‘nearly new stall’. It’s a lot of work but a lot of fun too. We know Trinity is a special cause.”
