Improving health services in Battersea and north Wandsworth

The outcome of the Improve Health Service Consultation

On Wednesday 25 June 2008, Wandsworth Teaching PCT’s Board will make a decision on the outcome of the consultation to Improve health services in Battersea and north Wandsworth over the next five to 10 years.

The consultation proposed four possible sites for a new primary care centre Doddington Health Clinic and Battersea Fields Practice, Grant Road near Clapham Junction, the Bolingbroke Hospital and Bridge Lane Health Centre.  We also proposed long term homes for the services currently provided at the Bolingbroke Hospital, which will move to St John’s Therapy Centre for the short term at the end of this year.

The PCT received over 1,400 responses from individuals, groups and organisations and over 150 people came to the series of public meetings, focus groups and workshops we held as part of the consultation.

 The PCT has been analysing these responses and working up plans to improve health services in the area.  The Board will be asked to prioritise these plans at their meeting later this week.

 Godfrey Allen, Non Executive Director and Battersea resident, said “We want to thank everyone who took the time to respond to our proposals and give their views at meetings, workshops and in writing . It’s been a really valuable experience hearing people’s views on what the best solution for improving health services could be.  We have been able to talk to people who might not normally think about the health services available to them.”

 The public Board meeting is being held at 9.30am on Wednesday 25 June 2008 in the Barnes and Richmond rooms at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton Lane, SW15 5PN.  Everyone is welcome to come along, but space is limited so please let us know if you are intending to come by emailing comms@wpct.nhs.uk
