Sixty Firefighters Tackle Garratt Lane Blaze


It took nearly three hours to control but nobody was injured

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a takeaway restaurant - with flats above - on Garratt Lane near the junction with Penwith and Earlsfield roads.

Half of the ground floor was damaged by the fire and a small part of the first floor was damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 4am today (January10th) and the fire was under control just before 7am. Fire crews from Tooting and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
