Council To Unveil £1 Billion Vision

The new £1 billion vision for Wandsworth’s town centre is due to be unveiled at a special launch event tonight.

This comes after the council’s planning committee gave the go-ahead last week for more than 1,000 new homes, shops, bars and restaurants to be built on the Ram Brewery site in the centre of the town.

The event will also provide details of another five major developments in the area;

• Southside Shopping Centre,
• Hardwick’s Quarter
• Wandsworth Riverside Regeneration,
• South Thames College
• Barratt Homes’ Parkside’s affordable housing scheme.

Proposals include walkways alongside the river Wandle and a £41m solution to the transport & traffic problems which it hopes will provide a more peaceful and attractive setting for the elegant Georgian terraces, churches and pubs that characterise the centre.
