Local Charity Helps Refugee Communities With Education

Katherine Low Settlement offers support with learning and mentoring opportunities

Katherine Low Settlement

The Katherine Low Settlement has been working with refugee communities in and around Wandsworth since 2004 and now offers Learning Mentors to help with the basics of integration into the local community.

The charity a range of services for children, young people and their families including befriending and mentoring support, advocacy and casework, a homework club and trips and activities.

How to volunteer

Volunteering with Love to Learn is really rewarding. Katherine Low provides training, support and a DBS check and asks that you commit to volunteering for at least 6 months (but most people stay much longer!)

Learning Mentors work with a young person once a week, supporting them with homework and developing study skills. Learning mentors can choose subjects they feel most confident in and the time they are able to make – usually after work. The charity is looking for volunteers who live in a wide variety of areas and especially men.
