Police Constable Issued With Written Warning

After travelling in first class with a standard class pass

A police constable has been issued with a written warning after sitting in a train carriage that his ticket did not permit.

PC Matthew Alder, who is attached to the South West Command Unit, faced a gross misconduct hearing on (February 15th).

It was alleged that on the May 29th last year, he boarded a train at Clapham Junction and sat in first class carriage even though his subsidised travel pass only allowed him to tavel in standard class.

It is alleged that in doing so PC Alder had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘Integrity, Orders & Instructions, and Discreditable Conduct’.

The panel considered all the evidence and found a written warning was the most appropriate sanction.
