But St Mary Magdalene Church urgently needs more local input to reach target
Several days ago, when hopefully most people were somewhere warm, dry and comfortable, several brave souls set out from St Mary Magdalene Church, Wandsworth Common on a pilgrimage in an effort to raise much needed funds to regenerate their church buildings.

Participants of the Big Walk for their church

Setting out last Thursday from Southwark Cathedral, they walked for over 4 days along the Thames Path down through North Kent finally arriving 80 miles and 170,000 steps later at Canterbury Cathedral.

The weather over that period was mixed and the walkers encountered wind, rain, cold, snow and even a blizzard on their quest. They visited churches, met some interesting people and bonded, particularly at the end of each day with the satisfaction of their progress.

The people of the parish of St Mary Magdalene has congratulated the walkers on their efforts and is now asking if the wider community would help with some retrospective sponsorship for a worthwhile local cause. Should you wish to sponsor them - as they are still trying to hit their financial target - please go to mydonate.bt.com/events/smmbigwalk
