Sunday Socials At The Pump House Gallery This Spring

Responding to social rules with art

SUNDAY SOCIALS: The Dos & Don’ts - Responding to social rules with art
20 April 2016 - 19 June 2016
12:00pm – 4:00pm
Ongoing drop-in activities for all ages

For each exhibition it puts on, the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park invites visitors to drop in to the Project Space and explore ideas through hands-on activities. Created by an artist, these activities are available for all to enjoy during gallery opening hours.

For the exhibition The Grounds We Tread, artist Rosalie Schweiker explores and questions the rules and regulations of public spaces and social interactions. Who's making the rules? Is it you or someone else?

She uses social exchanges such as conversations, economic transactions and jokes to find new functions for art in society. Inherent in the work is a playful humour that makes knowable the unwritten rules by which social systems operate.

Every other Sunday, from 12pm – 4pm, this ongoing set of activities is animated by free drop-in family workshops. The workshops provide a fun and thought provoking way to explore the exhibition, learning about new techniques and materials with the guidance of an established artist.

In these six playful family workshops, visitors can explore the dos and don’ts of our lives.

Upcoming Workshops:
Sunday 24 April: How do we want to live together?
Sunday 8 May: Our dos and don’ts
Sunday 29 May: Who makes the rules?
Sunday 12 June: What happens if we break the rules?
Sunday 19 June: Our new Dos and Don’ts
