Shell Garage On York Road Set To Become Residential Block

Plans are in for an eight storey, 89 flat rental block

Angle Property has submitted plans to Wandsworth Council to demolish the Shell petrol station on York Road with an eight storey apartment block.

Sitting next to the Battersea Reach riverside development on Juniper Drive, the proposed redevelopment will provide 89 affordable and private rented apartments, a commercial unit and related access, car and cycle parking.


The site was a Savoy art deco theatre before Shell took it over as a filling station and the architectural designs draw of the site's theatrical past. Although the buildings will front busy York road rather than the Thames, the design also complements the style of the luxury Battersea Reach scheme.

Shell UK Ltd has the lease on the site until 2028 and it is unclear whether a petrol station would remain on site in some form.
