St Michael's Gets An Upgrade Thanks To Community Fund
Priest in Charge says the grant has been 'gamechanging'
St Michael’s Community Centre has had a revamp and been officially reopened thanks to a grant from the Wandsworth Local Fund.
The Wandsworth Local Fund (WLF) is a levy that the council makes on developers to pay for the community infrastructure needed to support growth in the borough. Residents are encouraged to bring ideas for neighbourhood improvements to their ward councillors to be considered for funding, which must meet the criteria based on priorities set by local people.
The grant to St Michael’s has meant the lower hall has been extensively renovated and can continue to host a day centre for elderly residents four days a week. Other community work carried out from the centre in Cobham Close off Bolingbroke Grove, includes the provision of hot meals, company and activities for older people, outreach work, and a project delivering dressing gowns to older people who need them at St George’s Hospital.
