Man Charged With Malachi Brooks Murder


A second man is charged with arson and perverting the course of justice

Detectives investigating the murder of Malachi Brooks in Wandsworth have charged two men.

Joel Preddie, age 20, of Chantry Way in Mitcham was charged on Saturday 2 September with murder and arson.

Abdul Popatpotra, 26, of Totterdown Street, SW17 was also charged on Saturday with arson and perverting the course of justice.

They will both appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 4 September).

Malachi Brooks was stabbed to death in Surrey Lane on March 28th this year.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called at around 1am and found Mr Brooks suffering stab injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene just before 2am.

A post-mortem examination took pace later that day and gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
