Attempted Burgalry At Convenience Store Caught on CCTV

Detectives from Wandsworth CID have released an image (above) of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted burglary in Tooting.

On Wednesday 6th July, police were called to an attempted burglary at the Food & Drinks Store on Tooting Bec Road just after 4.30am.

CCTV overlooking the rear of the shop captured a man climbing the wall to get into the premises. He later tried several times to throw a towel over the camera and unsuccessfully tried to get in the shop.

The suspect is described as an Asian man with short black hair and a beard. He was wearing a dark blue top and dark blue baseball cap with yellow writing on the front.

Detective Constable Alex Ware, from Wandsworth CID, said, "We are keen to identify the man shown in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."

Anyone with information or any witnesses are asked to call police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
