Tulse Hill Hit And Run Victim From Wandsworth Is Named

Police have revealed that the female pedestrian who was killed in last week's hit and run collision in Tulse Hill was 29-year-old Justyna Kalandyk.

She was treated at the scene but sadly died at around 7.20am on Monday 11th December.

Justyna had been staying with family in Wandsworth but was originally from Poland. Her family arrived in London on Friday December 15th and formal identification took place that day.

Police beleive Justyna was struck by an HGV as she crossed the road at a pedestrian crossing. The driver failed to stop at the scene but has since been traced by police and interviewed under caution.

Officers believe she was subsequently struck by a second lorry and two cars; none of these drivers stopped at the scene. The 52-year-old driver of the second car has since been found and arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. he has since been released under investigation.

The driver of the second lorry and the driver of the first car involved in the collision have now been spoken to by police but not arrested.

The driver of a third car is being treated as a significant witness.

Detective Sergeant Alastair Middleton said, "Even though we have traced all the vehicles that we believe were involved, I continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and the moments afterwards to contact us immediately.

We want to hear from anyone who travelled from the south circular junctions of Norwood Road going towards the junction of Brixton Hill between the hours of 6.30 and 7am on the day of the collision. We are particularly interested in any dashcam footage that may have captured some of the incident before or after the collision."

Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.
