Local Police Officer Sentenced For Voyeurism

A police officer from Wandsworth has been sentenced for voyeurism offences at Southwark Crown Court.

Police Constable Irshad Kamal, age 48, of Bramfield Road SW11 and a serving officer attached to Merton Borough, pleaded guilty to three counts of voyeurism at the same court on Friday 29 January. He admitted charges of voyeurism after filming his encounters with sex workers.

He was give a community order with a two year supervision requirement involving 100 hours unpaid work. In addition he will be obliged to attend a sex offenders' group program for 100 days and he has been placed on the sex offenders register for the next five years. He has to pay
£750 court costs, £60 victim surcharge costs, his computers and mobile phones that were seized in the course of the investigation have been destroyed and he is subject to a sexual harm prevention order

The offences occurred between February 2010 and December 2012 and whilst he was off-duty. PC Kamal remains suspended.

Now that the criminal proceedings have been concluded the Met Police will be able to complete their misconduct process.
