Inspirational Objects

At Pump House Gallery from May 2nd

The next exhibition to arrive at Battersea Park’s Pump House Gallery will present viewers with everyday objects and ask them to think whether they like them, where they came from and whether they are even needed.

Curator and main contributor, Alison Milner, describes the Inspirational Objects exhibition as a "collection of curiosities".

She hopes visitors to the gallery will see the everyday objects that people interact with daily, and often take for granted, in a new light by looking at them in isolation.

The exhibition, which also features work by photographer Steve Speller, will be accompanied by a pop-up shop selling artist crafted 'inspirational objects'.

And, visitors to the Pump House Gallery will have the chance to craft their own 'inspirational objects' in a self-led workshop space on the first floor.

The exhibition will run at the gallery, which is situated in the middle of Battersea Park, from May 2 until June 16.

Starting on the same day - May 2 - the gallery's Projects Room will be hosting Common Knowledge, a series of multimedia artworks born from research into Tooting Bec Common to which local young people have contributed.

This work has been created by Up Projects and artist Jacques Nimki and will be on display until May 19.

The Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park is open from 11am to 5pm on Wednesday to Sunday while the exhibitions are running. Entry is free.
