Talk by Dr Lauren Pecorino
7.00pm, Thursday 3rd November 2011
at Paul’s Cancer Support Centre, SW11
Lifestyle choices that may reduce cancer risk:
evidence-based recommendations

Dr Lauren Pecorino, the author of Why Millions Survive Cancer: The Successes of Science, will be giving a talk about the lifestyle choices that may reduce cancer risk.

Her book focuses on the big improvements worldwide in survival rates for many cancers and she believes that these improvements mean that “our attitude towards cancer now needs drastic change”.

Based on work from the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer
Research, Dr Pecorino says it is clear that eating fruit and vegetables, and
taking physical exercise decreases the risk of some cancers. Dr Pecorino will also be addressing how lifestyle changes can also help people who already have cancer.

Dr Pecorino is Principal Lecturer at the University of Greenwich’s School of Science and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Everyone is welcome - including people affected by cancer, health
professionals and members of the public. It’s going to be a fascinating
evening and we hope as many people as possible can come.
Talk - 7.00-8.00pm. Light refreshments - 8.00-8.30pm.
