Elderly Man In Critical Condition After Road Accident


Following a collision with a van in Gilbey Road

Detectives appealing for a van driver who was involved in a collision with an elderly pedestrian in Tooting have made contact with him.

The man, aged in his thirties, was spoken to by officers on Saturday 14 February. He has not been arrested and is assisting police with their enquries.

The van in question was involved in a collision with a 74-year-old man in Gilbey Road at around 18:30hrs on Friday 13 February .The van has now been fully examined.

London Ambulance Service attended the scene and the victim was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Next of kin have been informed.

Police were not called to the scene but were informed of the incident in the early hours of Saturday 14 February.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and are keen to hear from a male witness who attempted to make the van driver aware of the collision immediately after it occurred.
