Man Charged With Murder After Woman's Body Found In Wandsworth

52-year-old Antoinette Donnegan died is 'suspicious circumstances'

A man has been charged with the murder of Antoinette Donnegan, pictured above. Kristian Smith, aged 41 and of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder, fraud and preventing a lawful burial and is being held in custody and is due to appear in court.

A murder investigation was launched on Thursday March 14th after the body of a woman was discovered in a Clapham Junction flat following a 'welfare check' last week.

Police gained entry to a flat on Este Road on March 7th and found the body of a deceased woman that they now know to be 52-year-old Antoinette Donnegan. Her next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem held on Saturday (March 10th) was inconclusive and police report that a second examination will be scheduled in due course.

Ms Donnegan's death was deemed suspicious and a murder investigation was launched under the supervision of Detective Chief Inspector John Massey of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.

DCI Massey said, “Although a precise cause of death remains to be established, I am satisfied that the circumstances surrounding Miss Donnegan’s death are suspicious.

“We are keen to speak with anyone who may have been in contact with Antoinette in mid to late January this year or visited her at her home address during this time.”

On Wednesday March 13th a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody at this time.
