Kimber Road Skatepark Build Begins

New £170k top quality skateboard and BMX track

Work has now begun on a £170,000 scheme to provide a top quality skateboard and BMX bike track in King George’s Park.

The construction of the new leisure facility off Kimber Road began earlier this week and should be completed by the end of summer.

When finished, young people will be able to enjoy a new state-of-the-art BMX, scooter and skateboard course complete with banks, ramps, jumps grindrails, handrails and flyoffs.

And the vacant adjacent play building may also include a youth café or a venue for skateboarding classes run by professional tutors.

The £170,000 being invested in this part of King George's Park is part of a £550,000 refurbishment and improvement programme for playgrounds in the borough.
