New Wandsworth? Late 19th and Early 20th Century Development

An illustrated talk from the Wandsworth Society

At the Wandsworth Society's meeting this week, the local historian, Timothy Walker, will give an illustrated talk on the late 19th and early 20th century building development in the area 'Twixt the Commons' (Wandsworth and Clapham), the roles of building speculators and bankers, and why the area might have become known as 'New Wandsworth’.

The meeting is at 7.45pm for 8pm this Thursday 12th March at West Side Church, Melody Road, SW18 2QQ (corner with Allfarthing Lane, opposite Wandsworth Preparatory School).  All are welcome - the meeting is free, with no booking required.

The talk will be preceded - at 7 o'clock - by the Society's Annual General Meeting, to which all are also invited (although non-members of the Society may not vote).
