Local Police Find Cars Left Unlocked

As part of a safer neighbourhood initiative

Police Officers from local Safer Neighbourhood teams recently tried the door handles of up to 200 cars in West Hill and East Putney to check that they were locked, and found several unsecured.

They also checked that even though a car may have been locked, that there were no valuables on show.

Owners were located and advised about the insecurity and the need to lock their cars.

The lock check was pat of an initiative called Day of Doors, and was made in mid-January.

Car owners were given crime prevention advice and the website www.immobilse.com was promoted to register valuables such as Sat Navs.

Officers reminded residents that just because the door clicks, it does not mean it’s locked.
