The World Heart Beat Music Academy envisions a world where music bridges cultural, political, economic and linguistic barriers. We deliver training in traditional classical music as well as non-traditional music from a range of genres including Asian, Celtic, Eastern European, Gypsy, Jazz and Reggae. We aim to inspire a passion for playing musical instruments and influence a generation of often alienated young people.

The Academy began teaching music through the 51st State Band in 2000. The 51st State Band has grown to be one of the largest youth bands in the UK, with over 130 members and sell-out performances at The Royal Festival Hall alongside musicians such as Julian Joseph and Cleveland Watkiss. In May 2012, with the help of local residents and businesses, the Academy opened our doors in Wandsworth in a 1,200 square foot converted warehouse.

Today they provide music tuition and personal development opportunities to over 260 children and young people between the ages of 5 and 24 years, who are based in Wandsworth and the surrounding London boroughs.
