The council’s business spokesman Cllr Rory O’Broin, said, “There’s no need to go anywhere else this Christmas, with some great independent shops selling unique gifts and events all over the borough to get you in the festive mood. Shop local, support your neighbourhood stores and enjoy the festive season.”

Battersea

Tuesday December 4, 7.30pm
Carols and the Christmas lights switch-on in Battersea Square

Monday December 10, 6.30pm
Battersea Bridge Christmas tree lights ceremony and carols. The Mayor of Wandsworth will switch on the lights, followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the Royal College of Art Dyson Gallery.

Tuesday December 11, 3pm-6.30pm
Winstanley and York Road Christmas carols celebration. Peformances from local schools plus free lunch for the over-65s. York Gardens Library. Elderly residents should go along from 3pm, and schools and other local residents from 4.30pm.

Light Chasers return, Meeting point by The Tower, St George Wharf, Riverside Gardens, SW8 5NN. Wrap up warm and follow dancers and skaters in a promenade dance performance along the Nine Elms riverside path, with local choreographer Lorraine Roberts.

Tuesday December 18, 4.30pm-5.50pm
Refugee: A Christmas Story, Grosvenor Arch, Circus West Village, Battersea Power Station, SW8 4NS. A free festive community event for all the family, with dance, carols and storytelling. Don't miss a bookreading and signing by Anne Booth, author of 'Refuge' which inspired the event.

Wandsworth Town

Saturday November 24, 4.30pm
Christmas market and events all day at Wandsworth Town Station plus Christmas and street food marked on the piazza outside Southside. Lights switched on at 4.30pm outside All Saints Church, followed by a carol service inside.
