The Wandsworth Older People’s Forum Annual Conference is taking place this year on 2 November.

Local organisations catering for the elderly are invited to attend the event which is being held at the Anchor Church Centre, 273 Garratt Lane, SW18 4DU.

Each group can send two representatives.

The forum receives aims to spread information to the borough’s older residents and collect their views about services for older people. It holds open meeting every month with relevant speakers and campaigns on issues affecting older people in the borough.

It is run by a group of volunteers who form a management committee supported by a part time administrator and is funded by Wandsworth Council until 2023 and helped by other charities and Trusts from time to time.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Is Wandsworth a good place for your retirement years’ and it will cover subjects including food banks, transport, pension credits, housing, health and support. A final report will be prepared for the council and the local NHS.

Speakers will include Fleur Anderson MP, police Superintendent Dave Bannister and John McGeachy from Age UK London. There will be time for questions and networking.

Transport is available for those unable to use public transport and lunch is provided. If you would like to go, call 07944 010245, or email su.elliott2@virgin.net.
