Wandsworth Council’s Access for All schemMarch 20, 2026launch in July 2023, according to new figures released by the council. The milestone reflects growing use of the borough’s concessionary programme, which offers discounted or free access to a range of leisure, cultural and community activities for eligible residents.
The council says more than 93,000 of the recorded bookings relate to discounted visits to local leisure centres, while a further 7,000 involve free or reduced-price tickets for cultural and community events held during Wandsworth’s year as London Borough of Culture. Membership of the scheme has continued to rise, with around 250 new sign-ups each week since the start of the year and more than 11,000 residents now enrolled.
Access for All provides reduced-cost access to activities including sports sessions, swimming lessons, digital skills courses and arts classes. Discounts are also available for services such as e-bike usage, allotment fees and weddings. The scheme is intended to support residents who may face financial or practical barriers to taking part in local opportunities.
The announcement comes shortly after the council introduced a new leisure contract, which includes plans for investment in leisure facilities over the next four years. The council says the improvements will support wider efforts to ensure that leisure provision across the borough is modern, accessible and financially sustainable.
Council Leader Simon Hogg said the scheme was designed to widen participation. “Wandsworth is a borough of opportunity, and we want every resident to be able to access everything Wandsworth has to offer,” he said. He added that the scheme aims to “level the playing field” so that residents can take part in leisure and cultural activities regardless of income.
The council has also highlighted individual experiences, including that of Chloe, a local resident who uses Access for All to take her children swimming at Tooting Leisure Centre at a reduced cost. A short video about her experience has been published on YouTube.
With the Easter holidays approaching, the council says a range of discounted or free activities will be available to families, including tennis camps, soft play sessions, sports pitch hire and reduced-price entry to attractions such as Go Ape.
Residents who wish to join the scheme can apply online. Successful applicants receive a digital membership card, or a physical card if preferred, which can be used to access the available offers. Proof of eligibility is required at the point of application.
