A man in his thirties has been shot and killed in Battersea this Christmas Eve.

The killing took place shortly before 9pm on Battersea Church Road, SW11.

Police were called to the scene after reports of shots being fired. When they arrived they found a man in his thirties suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses report hearing a number of shots and residents of the area say they believe the man killed was shot outside his own home.

Homicide detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating. No arrests have been made at this stage.
