Woman Arrested in Connection with Battersea Grindr Murder
Adrian Murphy

January 14, 2020

An eighteen-year-old woman has been charged by detectives investigating the murder of Adrian Murphy last year.

Diana Cristea of Barnet was arrested on Tuesday (14 January) and also faces charges in connection with a separate offence in which a 40-year-old man was poisoned in Walthamstow. She has also been charged with fraud offences in connection with both incidents. She is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 15 January.

43-year-old Adrian Murphy was found dead on 4 June in a block of flats on Lombard Road, Battersea. Five days previously the victim of the poisoning in Walthamstow had been found unconsious by police. Although he was hospitalised he was later discharged.

25-year-old Joel Osei was charged last year in connection with the same two cases.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on 17 February.

Police are working on the assumption that the two victims had been targeted through Grindr, a gay dating app. They have issued an appeal for any other men who believe they have been victims of the same scheme.
