Affordable Art Fair Celebrates Twenty Year Anniversary Preview

October 1, 2019

Twenty years on from the first Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, residents are invited to ‘party like it’s 1999’ and enjoy an initial look at the art on offer at this year’s opening night.

Wind down after work with a complimentary drink and live DJs during the Thursday Late on October 17, or pop along for a coffee and cake-fuelled culture fix over the weekend of October 19-20.

The whole idea of the world-wide Affordable Art Fairs is to facilitate inexpensive art collecting, with thousands of original artworks priced between £50 – £6,000.

This year the Battersea Fair, which runs from October 17-20 in the Evolution in Battersea Park, will also include a Recent Graduates’ Retrospective. According to the organisers: "If it’s inspiration you’re after, our Recent Graduates’ retrospective will present some of the most exciting emerging talent from over the years alongside 2019’s fresh selection of future stars, whilst our packed programme of free workshops, talks and tours will cater to the creative-at-heart with some nineties-inspired, art-filled fun."

The Affordable Art Fair launched in Battersea Park in October 1999. Ten thousand art lovers attended and bought thousands of original contemporary paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints. Since then more than 2.63 million people have visited an Affordable Art Fair across the world - in locations including Bristol, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan, Hamburg, Stockholm, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore - and bought over £331 million of art.
