10-year-old Boy Seriously Injured in Cabul Road Collision


Five taken to hospital after car ploughed into group attending memorial service

A 10-year-old boy has suffered injuries that may be life-changing after being hit by a car in Battersea this Sunday evening (14 August).

He was taken to hospital along with four other people including another child after a car ploughed into them in a private car park on Cabul Road shortly before 7.30pm. The group had been attending a memorial service.

After hitting the pedestrians, the car crashed into a tree.

The 72-year-old driver stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of motoring offences including causing serious injury. He has been bailed to a date in mid-September pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Benjamin Simpson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said, ‘’This is a very sad incident in which multiple pedestrians were injured in a private car park at a memorial service.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has any information to come forward and contact the police.’’
