A 27-year-old woman has died after being hit by a lorry on Battersea Bridge.

The collision occurred shortly before 7:55am on Thursday 10 August on the northside of the bridge.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her family has been informed.

The driver of the lorry did not stop apparently unaware of what had happened. He was finally located in Fulham and was spoken to by the police but not arrested.

There was more traffic on the road at the time than normal during the summer holidays due to the closure of Wandsworth Bridge.

The investigation into the incident is being led by officers from the Met's Serious Collison Investigation Unit who are appealing for witnesses, information or dash-cam footage.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 020 8543 5157 or contact via Twitter @MetCC. Please quote CAD 1553/10Aug.
